Using raw chickpea flour is not dangerous or unsafe; however, beans that are raw contain a substance that is hard to digest and can produce flatulence. To reduce the gas producing compounds you should purchase chickpea (garbanzo bean) flour that has been cooked.

Cooking raw chickpea flour will not reduce the gas producing compounds. Beans need to be soaked prior to cooking and the soaking water removed to reduce these undigestible compounds. Cooked chickpea flour will contain much less of these compounds because the beans would have been soaked, water discarded, the beans cooked, and then milled into flour.
